Meet the Torrance Team Behind Walt’s Insulation
We’re the crew you’ll actually see pulling up to your house in Torrance. Not subcontractors. Not a rotating cast from a call center. These are the people who’ve been crawling through South Bay attics, kneeling under crawl spaces, and showing up on time for over two decades. Walt built this company in 2000 with a simple rule: hire people you’d let into your own home. Every technician on this page lives that rule. They’re background-checked, they wear uniforms, and they answer to one person: Walt Brenner. The one down the road? That’s literally us.
Our People
Mike D. – Lead Technician
Mike’s been with Walt’s Insulation for 17 years, which means he’s insulated somewhere north of 3,000 Torrance homes. He’s our Owens Corning and Rockwool specialist and holds advanced certification in spray foam application through Icynene’s training program. If your attic has odd angles, old wiring, or a ceiling height that makes other contractors back away slowly, Mike’s the guy who figures it out. He lives in North Torrance and spends his weekends restoring a 1967 Mustang that he will never, ever finish. That’s fine. We need him in attics, not at car shows.
Ray T. – Senior Installer
Ray handles our blown-in insulation, radiant barrier, and crawl space encapsulation work. Before joining us 12 years ago, he did residential construction in Gardena, so he reads houses the way a mechanic reads engines. He knows when a moisture problem in a crawl space is actually a grading problem outside the foundation, and he’ll tell you before he sells you a vapor barrier. Ray’s the quiet one on the crew until you ask about his vegetable garden, at which point you should plan on an extra 15 minutes. His tomatoes are genuinely good.
Dana S. – Service Coordinator
Dana is the voice on the other end of (424) 955-2557 at 2 a.m. when your attic sounds like a raccoon convention. She’s been with us for 9 years and runs scheduling, estimates, and the Done Right Promise follow-ups. Dana knows every neighborhood we serve, from Old Torrance to the Avenues to the areas up toward Del Amo, and she can usually tell you when we can get a truck to your street without looking at the board twice. She grew up in Lomita and still refuses to call the 405 anything other than “the San Diego Freeway.” We respect that.
Chris W. – Apprentice
Chris is the newest member of the crew, coming up on his second year with 18 months of hands-on training under Mike and Ray. He’s working toward his Knauf and Johns Manville installation certifications and handles a lot of our insulation removal, attic air sealing, and rodent proofing work. What Chris lacks in years he makes up for in a willingness to be the person who goes into the tightest crawl space without complaining. He’s a Torrance native, a South High grad, and he carries the shop vacuum up the ladder so Ray doesn’t have to. That alone earns his spot on the truck.
One Standard, Every Job
“Done right” isn’t a slogan on a magnet. It’s the standard Walt set when he started this company by himself in 2000, carrying rolls of fiberglass up ladders in Harbor Gateway. Every person on this page works under that same expectation. Before any job closes, a lead technician walks the space. The insulation gets checked against manufacturer specs, not just eyeballed. The cleanup gets inspected. The homeowner gets asked if they have questions. And if something isn’t right? The Done Right Promise kicks in. We come back and make it right. Lifetime workmanship. No runaround. That’s the whole system: local people, accountable by name, standing behind what they did. Walt’s Insulation has been Torrance’s neighbor for over 25 years. The people on this page are the reason a neighbor keeps answering the phone at (424) 955-2557.
